Hey all,

Unfortunately I do not understand French. Does anyone know HOW LONG you have to be unemployed for before you can get Aide au reemploi? I understand that the employer has to apply for this. I have found a job that I would love but the employer thought I was a bit too expensive unfortunately but if they can organize so I can get 90 % of my old salary through some help from ADEM that would be OK. I will become unemployed on 15 November 2007 - the E301 form is already at ADEM so they know it as well. The company I worked for left Luxembourg and close the business (all 3 of us were fired). Any tips/help would be great. Thanks!

There are several ways to receive this allowance. None of them contains a rule on the unemployment duration. I think that you, as as Grenzgänger, can be eligible because you have been fired due to a restructuring of the company. Call the department of ADEM that is in charge of the "Aide au réemploi", if you want to know the rules: http://www.adem.public.lu/adem/organisation/orga_maint.html

If you want a second opinion, get into contact with a Luxembourgish Eures advisor: http://www.eureslux.org/eures.taf?IdNav=25&IdLang=UK

The other way around: You are eligible for Aide au Réemploi 6 months only after the end of your contract!

"Délai d’introduction La demande doit être introduite par le salarié, sous peine de forclusion, dans les 6 mois qui suivent le reclassement du travailleur." http://www.adem.public.lu/demandeur/aides/aidereemploi/index.html

I have discovered a mistake of translation of my own:

Not 6 months after the end of your old contract, but 6 months after starting the new (with less pay).
